28 buildings in Umoja Estate among those to be demolished by Government

Thousands of Nairobi Residents could find themselves homeless.

This is after the National Construction Authority (NCA) gazzetted 187 buildings in Nairobi that are unsafe and unsuitable for human habitation.

The affected building which are spread across different residential areas in Nairobi in Dagoretti, Umoja, Thika Road, South B and Huruma.

NCA has strongly advised that for the safety of occupants. Passerby and neighbors, the houses should be vacated with immediate effect and cordoned off to allow engineers to carry out further tests on their structural safety pending a decision on their continued occupation or demolition The inspection was initiated following a series of incidents of houses collapsing claiming the lives of several people and loses in property amounting to millions of shillings.
