Mike Sonko Impeached: How Embakasi West MCAs voted

Nairobi City County Governor Mike Sonko was impeached today. Over two thirds, of the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) voted to remove the governor who is accused of abuse of office, gross misconduct as well as lack of capability to run county affairs.

Embakasi West constituency has four wards namely Umoja 1 under Mark Macharia (Jubilee Party), Umoja 2 under Joseph Ndonji (ODM Party), Mowlem under Benson Mwangi (Jubilee), and Kariobangi South/Uhuru under Robert Mbatia (Jubilee).

The constituency is represented by Honourable George Theuri who is affiliated to the Jubilee Party.

Following Sonko’s posts, it appears only one MCA from Embakasi West; Mark Macharia aka Ronaldo stood with him.

Sonko shared some pictures of MCAs carrying placards numbering up to 57 before the impeachment vote was taken.

“Numbers don’t lie see for yourself.1-57 Niko nao. As we continue with efforts to defeat the impeachment motion at the County Assembly, it’s unfortunate that those behind the scheme to bring me down have resorted to intimidation and dirty tricks to achieve their selfish interests. This morning over 70 Nairobi City County Assembly MCAs have filed a complaint with police on impersonation of their emails by rogue Assembly officials who want to interfere with online voting of the impeachment motion which is set for debate this afternoon. No amount of abuse of police power or intimidation will bow us down. Aluta Continua”, the governor wrote
