In a rare incident, Kenya Railways Corporation has been forced to apologise informally to commuters that use the Ruiru Eagle, the commuter train that plies the Ruiru – Nairobi route.
“Our sincere apologies for inconvenience caused in the morning”, KRC tweeted.
It all started when Umoja News tweeted that the train that carries passengers from Ruiru, through Mwiki, Dandora, Mutindwa (Umoja & Buruburu), Makadara, and Nairobi and vice versa had been late for over one hour. KR responded by confirming that it had been rescued and reached the Nairobi station safely.
But irate commuters wondered how the railway firm hadn’t even care to apologise to its loyal commuters, some of whom had spent more than two hours on stage.
This is rare in Kenya, unlike Japan, with its great rail network where in 2018, a Japanese rail company issued an official apology after a train left 25 seconds early.
The West Japan Railway Company apologisied even after the mishap didn’t affect other train schedules but caused one person to miss the train.
Japan is meticulous about punctuality. Kenya should follow suit
