Kenya Power and Lighting Company has come under sharp focus for neglecting its already dilapidated infrastructure.
Residents of Naivas – Ruaraka area are the latest to feel the impunity of the ageing electricity infrastructure which continues to claim lives countrywide.
KPLC technicians take a lot of time to repair fallen poles and short-circuited transformers.
This has cost lives; for example, in May 2021, a bodaboda rider was recently electrocuted to death in Bungoma where he had gone to wash his motorbike not knowing that the electric cable that lay on the water pond was live.

In July 2020, a mother and child, died after they were electrocuted by a fallen power line in Kwale.
The issue in Ruaraka is dire and it is even shameful that it is happening in the city.
