Completion of the perimeter wall for Unity Primary School phase 2 has commenced.
This is taking advantage of the long school closure as per the Ministry of Education Covid-19 regulations.
Earlier in July, Education CS Prof George Magoha announced that primary and secondary schools will resume next year in January with a phased reopening of colleges and universities.
“In consultation with Ministry of Health we have agreed schools to reopen when daily Covid-19 cases reduce consistently for 14 days. Social and physical distancing is the most critical factor in ensuring safety of learners,” the CS said.
The fence whose phase 1 construction started in October 2018 was remained unfinished for nearly two years. The project is funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) and is meant to protect the kids from noise and intruders.
“Today we commenced the construction of a perimeter wall in Unity primary school. The project will be fully funded through NGCDF Embakasi west. The wall not only will enhance security but also the distractions from matatus and other vehicles which have been a nuisance to the school”, George Theuri, the Member of National Assembly for Embakasi West whose Unity Primary falls under posted on his Facebook page in 2018.
