Eric Omondi was arrested yesterday after blocking MPs from gaining access to parliament. He led his team to protest against high cost of living.
Comedian Eric Omondi and 16 others were Wednesday arraigned taking part in an unlawful assembly on parliament road.
It was alleged that on February 21 at Parliament Road they took part in an unlawful assembly.
They denied the charge and were released on an Sh20,000 bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh 10,000.
Their lawyer Danstan Omari asked for lenient bail terms
Omari told Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina the victims are content creators adding that Omondi is a Kenyan global brand
He said they went to parliament to get a solution to the current high cost of living and told the court to take judicial notice that 6 million are on the verge of starving.
He told the court the men represented 55 million Kenyans at parliament to tell MPs to do something on the issue.

The case will be mentioned on March 6, 2023, for pre-trial.
Meanwhile, Raila Odinga, during a prayer rally at Jevanjee Gardens condemned the arrest of Eric Omondi.
“We want to tell Ruto and his people that peaceful demonstrations are allowed. Peaceful demonstrations are done in front of the House of Commons in the UK, are done in front of the White House and Congress in the US,” Raila said.
“Peaceful demonstrations are allowed and protected. Demonstrators are protected by the police,” he added.
