A 29-year-old woman has been arrested in Umoja after she stabbed her 33-year-old boyfriend to death.
According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, Edward Okello, an aeronautical engineer at JKIA and his girlfriend Vigilance Shighi had an argument before the incident.
The matter was reported to the Buruburu police station at around 8.30PM on Sunday by an officer attached to IEBC’s Wafula Chebukati security detail.
Okello was reportedly rushed to the Mama Lucy hospital bleeding profusely where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Thereafter, officers from the Buruburu police station visited the scene of crime where they discovered a pool of blood believed to be Okello’s in the living room.
A kitchen knife believed to have been used as the murder weapon was also recovered at the late Okello’s house.
The suspect who was identified by the neighbours after the incident has since been arrested and is in police custody.
Speaking after the incident, the suspect told the police that she was not aware of what had transpired but revealed that her boyfriend had been beating her at the time.
“He was holding me, and he was beating me up, in my defence, I took a cup and threw at him and I do not know what happened I just saw him on the floor,” Ms Shighi told police officers.
“If you have to jail me for fighting, then I’m okay with that because I do not know what happened, he was on the floor asking me Viggie, what’s happening?”
She denied wielding the knife that had killed her lover but admitted that there was a knife lying close by during their fight.
