There was an uproar over college, TVET and University bursaries that were given to Embakasi West Constituency residents.
Most people who had lined us since 9pm on 3rd February 2022 missed out on the bursaries issued the next day
‘We liked up as usual, but when the officials from the office of the MP George Theuri came, they served like 50 people per ward then announced that the bursaries was exhausted’, a resident that spoke to Umoja News said.
As per his adverts, Theuri promised to give bursaries to at least 300 people per ward. However, it seemed like the list was rigged with some people getting the forms from elsewhere.
Umoja News could not establish of some people paid officials at the MPs office to get the forms or if the MP issued the forms to some people who did not queue at Umoja Primary School grounds.
George Theuri is one of the most transparent MPs in terms of NG-CDF usage.
The second term legislator who rose from a councillor has renovated schools, built new classrooms and boardrooms.
He is however receiving criticism over the road and drainage infrastructure especially in the dirty Umoja 2 ward under ODM’s Joseph Ndonji.
