A scene of crime has been cordoned off inside Cooperative Bank of Kenya Kayole Branch.
Two staffers, an IT officer and a client have been arraigned in court over the theft of Sh2.2 million from a client’s account.
Accused of masterminding the theft is Simon Sirere, an IT specialist working with the bank.
Taifa Leo reports that the suspect, with two others, got access to Nancy Nyambura’s account which they deprived of the monies.

Others charged alongside Simon were Harrisson Mwaura and Barack Ochieng.
The trio is accused of traversing various branches across the country while assessing customers’ details using their technological know-how.

They were arraigned before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe but denied the six charges. Seno and Njoroge were jointly charged with conspiracy to rob a bank and the theft of KSh 2.2 million, with the former facing another count of disrupting the bank’s computer systems. The staffer also denied disclosing the account’s details to Njoroge.
The prosecution succeeded in convincing the court to turn the prayer of the co-accused being released on bail.
According to the prosecution, the case would be enjoined with another one heard by the senior magistrate Martha Nanzushi.
