The Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Thursday arrested two individuals for drug dealing in Umoja Innercore.
The duo, a Nigerian national Michael Adeyemi Adedji and a Kenyan Selina Ndinda Ndonyo were nabbed by sleuths from the anti-narcotics with a white powdery substance hidden in a bag.
“A search in their house resulted to recovery of four African made hand bags with false sides each containg a package of white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine. Further search led to recovery of a seperate red bag containg three packages of a similar substance. All the substances were seized, weighed and found to be approximately 2,100gms. Meanwhile, the suspects have been placed in custody pending arraignment,” the DCI wrote on Twitter and Facebook.
War on drugs
The arrests come hot on the heels of a major anti-narcotics operations that nabbed Nancy Kigunzu alias Mathee wa Ngara.
Mathee wa Ngara was found in possession of marijuana with a street value of over Sh18 million.
She was arrested and taken to court where court rejected her bail request.
In allowing the application by the state, Magistrate Njeri Thuku said Nancy Kigunzu and her co-accused Eugene Jumba are a flight risk given their involvement in drug trafficking.
“Prosecution has placed strong compelling reasons. It is not in the interest of justice to grant bond,” the court said.
Ms Kigunzu has operated from Ngara with impunity as she was liquid and gave huge bribes to the police.
It is said she was so untouchable to the extent of transferring police officers who harassed her.
