Kenya’s foremost political mind Raila Odinga was in Embakasi East for a church service at the Soweto Catholic Church last Sunday.
His entourage passed through the estates that have a higher affinity for him, a love for him that comes from his stand for the betterment of the Kenyan lot. A promise that had not been fulfilled yet.
However, Kenyans got a taste of what it can achieve with the government of National Unity between Raila Odinga and Mwai Kibaki between 2008 and 2012.
At Soweto, Raila Odinga was greeted with the love of a father figure.
‘He doesn’t have to endear himself to the masses. He doesn’t force love. It just comes naturally”, a resident who shared pictures of the Embakasi East event wrote to Umoja News.

Mr Odinga visited this region of Nairobi a week after Deputy President William Ruto had.
‘We are in campaign period and this was just a show of might if you like. Raila Odinga has controlled a huge chunk of Nairobi for long and he just had to show DP (Ruto) that he is in charge’, a political scientist weighed in on the matter.
The message to his opponents was home, he is in charge, forcing the Tangatanga wing of Jubilee regime to share a fake picture of a section of crowds carrying a wheelbarrow, to lie to the masses that the Tangatanga wing of had made inroads.
‘In my opinion, Embakasi West (under George Theuri) and Embakasi East (already under ODM via MP Babu Owino) should come under ODM in 2022 and beyond”, said a resident.
