A shopper who recently started shopping at Naivas in Buruburu has accused the supermarket chain of putting low prices on the shelves so as to dupe clients.
The shopper who recently bought goods worth Sh14k from the supermarket says Naivas removes the Value Added Tax (VAT) from the prices of goods on the shelves thereby creating the impression that they are cheaper than other outlets.
“Naivas duped me into buying a lot from their supermarket, I had a calculator on my hands and my goods cost about Sh12k. When the till was done, I realized I had to pay Sh14k. I questioned myself how comes, then I saw VAT listed separately. This should not be the case”, he complained.
The receipt seen by Umoja News confirms the shopper’s story.
Naivas Buruburu is located at The Point Mall.
The supermarket branch was one of those exposed for selling red meat laced with harmful Sodium Metabisulphite as a preservative in 2019.
Sodium Metabisulphite, which should be used in small quantities, causes cancer when consumed over longer periods of time.
Samples collected from meats in various supermarkets indicated some contained Over 60,000 milligrams per kilogram of Sodium Metabisulphite, a preservative, while the maximum limit required is 500 milligrams per kilogram/GPS.
Mohamed Dagane, the then Nairobi County Health Executive had revealed that key officials from the six supermarkets would be arraigned in court to face charges of endangering human life. What happened to this case?

@naivas_kenya, Buruburu, please check the batch of raw milk you received 3 days ago. It got spoilt uncharacteristically fast under refrigeration and contains a semi-solid residue which is not cream.
