NHIF CEO Peter Kamunyo’s contract will not be renewed – Statement

Peter Gathege Kamunyo’s tenure as National Hospital Insurance Fund Chief Executive comes to an end in April, Board Chair Michael Kamau announced.

The Board of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), wishes to inform the public as follows: –
1. The employment contract of the Chief Executive Officer of NHIF, Dr. Peter Kamunyo, comes to an end on 14u1 April 2023.
2. In light of (1) above and aware of the major reforms underway at the Fund as part of the Kenya Kwanza’s transformative agenda, the Board has decided to open up the position of Chief Executive Officer for competitive recruitment exercise.
The recruitment to fill all vacant positions will commence in due course. The Board takes this opportunity to thank Dr. Peter Kamunyo for his service.

Dr Kamunyo was appointed on April 14th 2020.

He was until that time a practising physician at his company MedSource Limited, where he is also the CEO.
