A man named Tony who worked at a local kibanda died in the infernon that razed several shops in Umoja estate, Tena Area.
The fire which started around 9pm last night engulfed the are which is adjacent to the Umoja Tena police post burn intensely for over 45 minutes before Nairobi fire brigade managed to put it out.
Buruburu Sub-County police commander (SCPC) Adamson Bungei said inveastigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire, even as the body of the deceased was transferred to City Mortuary.
A resident at the scene said they suspect the fire to have been caused by the presurised paint equipments at the scene.
“Unaona pale, hiyo ilkuwa garage, ile pressure ndio inakaa ililipuka”, he said
In the morning, businessmen and women counted their losses as they tried to salvage the badly charred iron sheets of what remained of their business.
