Today evening, the Ruiru-bound train made a stop at the Mutindwa station but the erratic driver gave passengers little time to disembark prompting some to jump out on the now moving train.
A middle-aged lady jumped out and fell near the train’s wheel but was lucky; two people who were standing by managed to pull her to safety.
It was a close call, as women in the crowd let out sharp cries helplessly watching.
Prone to accidents
The Mutindwa stage and level crossing is prone to accidents.
In 2013, in the wee hours of the morning, a train knocked a Umoinner Sacco Minibus killing 11 people.
The brute force of the train reduced the bus into a ramshackle-twisted metal, mixed with blood and flesh; crushed underneath the heavy metal engine.
It was a ghastly site.
