A spot check on the much-hyped Nairobi Metropolitan Services roads improvement project in and around Umoja Estate shows no work done.
NMS had allocated nearly a billion shillings to the project, houses were earmarked for demolition, stalls by the roadside demolished, but then the hype died down.
The project which will be undertaken at a cost of Sh902million will touch on eight roads within Umoja Innercore and its environs. Umoja Innercore is composed of several road links that include Ruaraka Crescent Road, Kangundo Moi Drive link, Malewa – Mwangaza Road, Nasra Estate Road, Kifaru Mutindwa Road, Kangundo Service Road, Mowlem Link Road, and Outer Ring Road. – Kenya Urban Roads Authority
The only road works currently being done is the shoddy work by MP George Theuri putting cabro on the soggy Umoja 1 Health centre road.
Works to lay Cabro have began on the road between Umoja Catholic Church and Umoja 1 Health center.
It is an ill-advised move that will see the road damaged in 5 months. The area needs tarmac and drainage. pic.twitter.com/gtSO7r5u0S

Most of the roads done under NGCDF and Kerra don’t last more than 6 months, pointing to an avenue for looting by the politician.
