Update: Two dead in Ruaka building collapse, rescue ongoing

Officers from the Disaster Response Unit on site at the Ruaka building that collapsed over a neighbouring residential home. Rescue efforts under way.

Emergency responders have retrieved two bodies from the rubble of the collapsed building in Ruaka, Kiambu County.

Three survivors have also been rescued and rushed to hospital.

The six-storey building collapsed this morning over a neighbouring residential home whose occupants were sleeping at the time of the incident.

This is the second building to come down in the country this week.

On Tuesday, a building under construction collapsed in Kasarani, Nairobi killing at least three people.
