Mark Mwenje was elected Embakasi West Member of National Assembly (MP) in August 2022, but five months later, his impact is yet to be felt.
The impact measured on key grievance areas such as roads, garbage, drainage, lighting and housing remains untouched.
The manifesto promised much but the delivery has been dismal.
Roads
At least we can see some construction of link roads in Embakasi West. Such as the one from Pewa street area to Eastmatt Supermarket in Umoja Estate, however, it is not clear if that is Theuri’s or Mwenje’s work.
Repair the road that connects Umoja Innercore to Manyanja road. That road ,that passes near Tena Police Post, looks like somebody’s banana farm.
Do repair it.
Garbage
A new ‘dandora’ dumpsite is forming inside Umoja under the IBER-AFRICA powerlines, the slum house are also coming up and in a few years, it will be difficult to pass through that area to and from Umoja 1 and Innercore Tena side.
You and Sakaja must nip this slum housings in the bud.
Garbage is still an issue
Drainage
Former MP George Theuri built the biggest drainage pipeline from First Love Church area through Umoja 2 between Tumaini and Busara Primary Schools. His efforts were sabotaged by garbage-throwing Umoja people and First Love Church still floods.
Unblock that drainage, improve it and make things tight.
There are other areas in Umoja and the whole Embakasi West constituency that require good drainage.
Don’t build roads without drainage.
Lighting
Lighting in Embakasi West must be maintained. There are no major issues here.
Housing
Please ensure that there’s strict adherance to housing codes.
There’s no need to accepting constuction of studio units aka bedsitters in such a prime land as Embakasi West Constituency. We are near the CBD and such attocities is turning Umoja into a slum.
Those house that are also built on road researves or blocking link roads must also be demolished.
Let’s have a glorified Embakasi West.
