Buildings on road reserve in Umoja Estate are set to be demolished.
In a notice sent out by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on 26th February 2021, buildings along the Mutindwa – Kifaru road that have encroached on the road reserve will be demolished.
“The plots you mentioned above are in the middle of the Mutindwa-Kifaru route, which is one of the project roads. You are expected to have surrendered the encroached portions of the Mutindwa-Kifaru Road road reserve as at the close of business on the thirty-first day from the date of this notice”, KURA wrote.
The notice further indicated that the owners of the premises must have vacated by the 30th day since the notice was issued which falls on March 29, 2021.
KURA last month announced planned renovation of 8 kilometres of roads within Umoja Estate.
The project will cost Sh902 million and will cover Ruaraka Crescent Road, Kangundo Moi Drive link, Malewa – Mwangaza Road, Nasra Estate Road, Kifaru Mutindwa Road, Kangundo Service Road, Mowlem Link Road, and Outer Ring Road.
The scope of the project involves upgrading into bitumen standards, a 7 meter wide two-lane carriageway, inclusion of a 2 meter footpaths, bus bays, drainage facilities, road marking and street lighting.
