Cooperative Bank paid the Sh1 million bill for the 37 patients released from Mbagathi and Mama Lucy Hospitals this week.
The bank which was in the wrong books of Kenyans online last week for colluding with auctioneers to destroy the petrol station of a Migori man, seems to have redeemed itself.
According to a statement by the affected customer named Kennedy Osano, he had previously cleared a loan of Sh400,000 from the bank, he took another mobile loan from Co-Op Bank and was in the process of offsetting it despite’s being late on his obligation. Allegedly, the bank accessed his wife’s savings and used balance to repay arrears.
Very grateful to @Coopbankenya for their kind gesture and donation of one million shillings to support our initiative where all who had been detained at our county hospitals were released to go home to spend Christmas with their families. May God bless you so much. pic.twitter.com/qBz2UGwuRV

With the threat of his property being auctioned, Kevin made an arrangement with the bank with the sim of avoiding this eventuality and making a workable payment arrangement with the bank.
His fuel pump was taken out despite the agreement with the manager.
The narrative played out on Twitter, shared by Muranga Senatorial Aspirant Believe Kinuthia.
Coop Bank’s response was disastrous.
The bank chose Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson’s Christmas gift as an afterthought to do PR.
