The EACC boss Twalib Mbarak has denied that his officers were behind the raid at former Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i’s home.
“It is not EACC detectives. We have nothing on against Fred Matiang’i,” EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak said.
History has shown that the Kenyan govt often distances itself from security operations that leave them with an egg on its face or where extra-judicial killing is involved.
Umoja News believes the incident at Dr Matiang’i’s home might be one of those.
What we know so far: The attempted arrest of former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i
Meanwhile, Azimio La Umoja Chief Raila Odinga has vowed to stay put until justice is done. He says Kenya will not allow ‘the dark days of repression to return’.
“Dr Fred Matiang’i is a former Interior CS and civility demands that the illegitimate regime in place accords him due process and his rights. We will not allow the dark days of repression to return. We shall stand with him to the end. I am not leaving Dr Matiangi’s home tonight until this matter is resolved. He can count on our support and solidarity as Azimio. Haramu haitalala! Kenya ni kubwa kushinda mtu yeyote mmoja,” Raila Odinga wrote in his social media accounts.
