US movie star and gentleman Johnny Depp will star in French movie “Jeanne du Barry”.
The gentleman was at the centre of a nasty court battle with fellow actor and wife Amber Heard.
The Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial made several headlines, some nasty, after The Tourist star sued his ex-wife.
The case took 3 years and their careers took a dive.
In an upcoming film, Johnny Depp will be playing the role of Louis XV, the French king, who had a romantic relationship with his lover, Jeanne du Barry.
Despite not being a noble, Jeanne was allowed to live in Versailles Palace.
This will be Depp’s first live-action film as a lead since winning the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
He has made several appearances since then, including the MTV Video Music Awards, Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion show, and voicing an animated character in Johnny Puff: Secret Mission.
The film, directed by Maïwenn, will premiere on May 16, 2023, at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Maïwenn will also star alongside Depp in the film.
The festival is expected to showcase other films such as Killers of the Flower Moon and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, with the Official Selection to be announced on April 13.
