Detectives on Monday arrested a robbery suspect in Dagoretti and recovered a homemade pistol.
The National Police Service reported that a team of police officers from Dagoretti Subcounty intercepted the suspect after receiving intelligence.
“They intercepted him at Delta Petrol Station in Kawangare 46, then he led the officers to his house,” they said.
Upon search of the house, police recovered several items.
“One homemade pistol capable of firing, one Nokia mobile phone suspected to have been stolen, one tear gas grenade, one Samsung Tablet, and one machete among others,” they said.
NPS said that the male adult suspect was thereby arrested and placed in custody pending arraignment.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect and his male accomplice who is still at large, are linked to an earlier robbery incident that occurred on the morning of December 26,” they said.
The same incident, NPS said, had been reported at Waithaka Police Station.
“We thank members of the public for providing information that led to the arrest and recovery of the items,” they said.
